S1E2 - Episode 2: 1807, The Eagles Turn East

OSG Games Campaigns of Napoleon

Episode Notes

Chuck, Aaron and Chris finish off our Pultusk scenario for 1807. The Russians drive off the French attack over the river, and drop their own bridges in return. We end the scenario after concluding that the French have no shot at taking their objectives by the end of the scenario. Vive l'Prussia! Vive l'Russia!

S1E3 - Episode 3: The Mysteries of Playtesting

The Boys Test Brothers at War 1861

Episode Notes

This session was recorded on Wednesday, March 13th. Attending were Kurt, Chuck, Aaron and Chris. Chuck and Kurt played the first scenario of the Battle of Carnifex Ferry, WV. Aaron and Chris played the opening of the Battle of Wilson's Creek, MO. This podcast covers the first hour of the session (two more will continue the epic), which consists primarily of the guys asking "why do I have three of the same artillery unit?" and Chris getting more and more flustered as he realizes that the information he's provided is riddled with errors. It's called testing for a reason.

We do actually get down to playing as the episode progresses. Enjoy the banter.

S1E4 - Episode 4: Ah Ha Ha Ha!

Brothers at War, part 2

Episode Notes

The battles of Wilson's Creek and Carnifex Ferry continue. Chuck drops his dice in this episode. You will experience the pleasure of listening to four people talk at once... enough to please even the most demanding crosstalk connoisseur.. The number of rules questions declines somewhat as the action heats up, but there's still plenty of it.

S1E5 - Episode 5: Brothers at War

Wilson's Creek and Carnifex Ferry wrapup

Episode Notes

Final recording from the Wilson's Creek/Carnifex Ferry playtest session. This was the last big playtest from Brothers at War: 1861.

S1E6 - Episode 6: The Invasion of Sicily part 1

Italia version of the Avalon Hill game Anzio

Episode Notes

Aaron, Chuck, and Chris square off over the mediterranean in 1943. We're playing a reimagined version of the Avalon Hill game Anzio called Italia. It was originally published in C3i magazine I believe? Anyway, it's got counters and a new map by Mark Simonitch which is reason enough for anyone to get it. I own two copies :). The action opens with Operation Husky. The British and Americans have to capture the island and drive off the german defenders. Aaron, as the Brits, lands on the historical beaches but Chuck, ever the contrarian, lands on the north of the island! Chris is stuck playing the germans as ususl. Mayhem ensues.

S1E7 - Episode 7: Into the Heart of the Island

Sicily part 2

Episode Notes

Part 2 of our replay of Sicily, recorded March 28th, 2024. Chuck, Aaron and Chris are in attendance. Aaron's Brits push over the river towards Mt. Etna while Chuck's US Divisions drive down from the North.

S1E8 - Episode 8: Victory in Sicily

Chuck drives the bosch off of the island

Episode Notes

Chuck wins. Drives Chris' germans off the island by frontal assault and sneakily dropping british paratroops into their rear area. The stage is set for the invasion of Italy!
